Youth & Teen Groups and Autism & Positive Behaviour Services (The Nest, Project Affinity, The Fly)

3 Programs Available:

  • The Nest (personalized services)
  • Project Affinity (youth groups – after school, Pro-D days)
  • Fly (youth groups – Tuesday evenings, Pro-D days, Spring and Summer day and overnight camps)

1. The Nest Positive Behaviour Support Services

The Nest provides a number of services for families with children/youth aged 2 – 12 years of age. Programs are designed to teach skills such as:

  • communication
  • self-advocating
  • tolerating disappointment
  • transitioning between activities
  • waiting
  • following instructions
  • group participation
  • daily living skills, such as toileting and dressing.

Come and have fun with us!

 Service Available at

  • The Nest offices with our toys and equipment.
  • In your own home environment.
  • In the community, exploring and learning new skills.

 Service Information

  • Fees can be paid through autism funding, distributed learning funding, or families can use private funds.  We can help with all of the paperwork!
  • ASD diagnosis is not required for services.
  • Our services are tailored to your child,  based on your priorities and the BCBA’s assessment.

Our Staff

  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
  • Behaviour Interventionists (BI) working under the supervision of the BCBA.
  • Occupational Therapist and/or Physical Therapist.

2. Project Affinity

Youth who qualify to attend the group:

  • Youth 8 to 13 years of age.
  • Are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or have other support needs.
  • Youth need to be able to participate independently without 1-1 support.

Group information:

  • Small after-school peer groups
    • 8-to-12-week session blocks
    • 1.5 hours per week
  • Out of school day camps
    • Spring Break and Summer
    • 5 hours per day

Sessions will be led in small groups and:

  • Encourage positive peer learning and the exploration of social skills.
  • Are centered around youth with similar interests and ages.

Project Affinity:

  • Is led by quality trained staff.
  • Fees can be paid through autism funding, distributed learning funding, or families can use private funds.
  • Is FUN!

3. FLY

Come and have fun with us!  Fees can be paid through autism funding, distributed learning funding, 3rd party funding, or families can use private funds.
  • Tuesday evenings for teens ages 13 to 18 (runs during the school year)
  • Pro-D day camps for youth ages 8 to 13 (SD#83 pro-d days)
  • Summer day camps for youth and teens ages 8 to 18
  • Overnight camp

Youth who qualify to attend the groups:

  • Youth 8 to 18 years of age.
  • Have support needs (emotional, behavioural, learning, physical, sensory impairments)
  • Youth need to be able to participate independently without 1-1 support
