Fee for Service Programs

We provide individualized services for children with support needs using a family and child centered approach.


1. The Nest Autism Services Program

Children who qualify are:

  • Children under 6 years of age• An Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis is not required.
  • If paying with autism funding, an Autism Funding Agreement with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) is required.

Service options available:

  • Morning or afternoon sessions
    • 2 to 3 sessions per week
    • 2 hours per session
  • After school sessions
    • 2 to 4 sessions per week
    • 1.5 hours per session
  • Option to include an Occupational Therapist, a Physiotherapist or have parent support sessions with a Behaviour Consultant.

Services are:

  • Individualized to your child based on your family priorities and the Behaviour Consultants assessment.
  • 1 on 1 with a Behaviour Interventionist to teach your child skills (communication, social, daily living, motor and emotional.)
  • Overseen by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst.
  • Paid through Autism Funding or families can use private funds.

How the Nest works…

  1. Submit a referral form or contact the Behaviour Consultant at 250-833-2794 or autism@nullshuswapchildrens.ca
  2. Complete the intake forms with the Behaviour Consultant
  3. The Behaviour Consultant will conduct a skills assessment, write a behavioural plan of intervention, prepare teaching programs, and train our Behavioural Interventionist’s
  4. Your child will begin sessions at the Nest with one of our Behavioural Interventionist’s
  5. The Behaviour Consultant will supervise your child’s program and update their goals as needed
  6. The Behaviour Consultant will provide progress reports every 4 months or whenever requested by the parent
  7. Parents are encouraged to observe sessions and contact the Behaviour Consultant for information about implementing strategies at home

2. Positive Behaviour Support

Children who qualify:

  • Children 0 to 18 years of age
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis is not required

Service options available:

  • Assess any challenging behaviours
  • Parent support sessions
  • An assessment of skills (communication, social, daily living, motor, emotional)
  • Develop plans to increase skills and reduce challenging behaviours using positive behaviour supports
  • Advocate at school IEP meetings for services and support
  • Collaborate with your child’s other service providers

Services are:

  • Provided by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst
  • Paid through Autism Funding or families can use private funds

3. Project Affinity

Children who qualify:

  • Children 8 to 18 years of age
  • Are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or have other support needs
  • Able to participate independently without 1-1 support

Service options available:

  • Small after-school peer groups
    • 8-to-12-week session blocks
    • 1.5 hours per week
  • Out of school specialized day camps
    • Spring Break and Summer
    • 5 hours per day

Sessions will be led in small groups and:

  • Encourage positive peer learning and the exploration of social skills
  • Be centred around youth with similar interests and ages

Services are:

  • Provided by trained staff
  • Paid through Autism Funding or families can use private funds
