Infant Development Wellness Consultant

The Infant Development Wellness Consultant provides services and support to families of children ages 0 to school age who are displaying challenging behaviours and/or mental health concerns. As part of SCA’s Pathway to Hope early years team, the Infant Development Wellness Consultant provides a holistic service approach to families and children who are most in need of integrated intervention. This position will work as part of a collaborative team where families are connected to culturally safe and effective support focused on wellness promotion, prevention, and early intervention.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Early Childhood Education, or field related to child development is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in the early childhood field, or equivalent.
  • A certificate in Infant Development or Supported Child Development is an asset.
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, child and youth care, childhood development is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge about child development and exceptional conditions in children.
  • Experience working with Nucleus and databases is considered an asset.
  • Experience with analyzing data and trends is considered an asset.
  • Experience in program management is considered an asset.
  • Experience in planning and delivering staff and community training is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of typical and atypical child development
  • Experience working with families and infants with a disability or delay.

Requirements

  • Valid Class V BC driver’s license
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Criminal Record screening
  • Current First Aid Certification, including C.P.R.
  • Up to date vaccinations are highly encouraged.

CURRENT JOB REQUIREMENT: This is a part-time position, 14 hours/ week, Hourly wage range is $27.83 – $33.86. Starting wage will commensurate with experience.

FASD Keyworker; Family Support Maternity Leave

This is maternity leave coverage part-time position, 28 hours/week with some evening and weekends. Starting date is mid September 2024, coverage is 12 to 18 months

The FASD Key Worker provides services to families of children with FASD and other complex behaviours. You will work to support families in understanding FASD through the provision of information and education specific to each family’s needs. This position also assists families with the referral and diagnosis process, assists and supports families in the implementation of the recommendations made through diagnostic assessments from Interior Health’s Children’s Assessment Network (IHCAN) and works to empower families through the provision of support, resources and information tailored to meet their individual needs.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in social work, psychology or relevant field and one year of related clinical work experience; a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or other relevant field and three years of related clinical work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and clinical work experience.
  • Working knowledge of psychological, social, and cognitive development in children and youth; behavioural, emotional and mental health issues in children and youth; developmental behavioural conditions including FASD; Family Centered Practice; and clinical intervention methods and applications.
  • Experience working with children and youth with complex behavioural conditions including FASD is considered an asset.
  • First Aid Certification, including C.P.R.
  • Education and training to be taken be completed withing the first year of employment:
    • Training on the impact of FASD on families
    • MANDT training
    • Training on disability issues and relevant legislation

LGBTQ+ Youth Program Coordinator and Facilitator

The LGBTQ+ Youth Program Coordinator and Facilitator position is a key and important part of delivering quality youth programs in the Shuswap area. This position focuses on providing high quality supports for LGBTQ+ youth by developing and sustaining a safe and welcoming space through youth groups and 1:1 supports empowering youth to achieve their full potential and to be their authentic selves. As part of SCA’s Youth Program team, the LGBTQ+ Youth Program Coordinator provides a holistic service approach to LGBTQ+ youth and their families. This position will support LGBTQ+ youth and their families and connect them to the appropriate services and supports either within SCA and/or in the community.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Minimum Human Service Worker Diploma with 2 year’s experience, or a Bachelor’s of Social Work or equivalent knowledge, training, and work experience.
  • Working knowledge of psychological, social, and cognitive development in youth along with knowledge of
  • Group work experience in a setting with youth or other vulnerable groups.
  • Experience and/or education regarding children with developmental disabilities or delays.
  • Experience working with and advocating for LGBTQ+ equality and well-being.
  • Understanding and experience of youth work practice including in delivering group work.
  • Experience of building positive relationships with marginalized youth.

Requirements

  • Valid Class V BC driver’s license.

Part time work, helping children with support needs in their child care setting, without our support many of these children would not be able to attend child care.

Program Assistants working for our Supported Child Development program helps children with extra support needs in child care settings.  This position is best suited for reliable workers, who love working with children 3 to 6 years of age.

Qualifications:

  • Loving and patient
  • Experience working with children
  • Be able to play with children inside and outside

Qualifications that are an asset:

  • Early Childhood Education, Special Needs certification or training, Certified Education Assistant, Child Development training and experience

Youth Program Assistant (FLY)

FLY Recreation Program has a variety of programs for youth aged 8-18 with support needs. Through physical, outdoor, and other recreation activities, FLY encourages youth to try new things and strengthen social skills. FLY Program Assistants will work with the Youth Coordinator to plan and implement these activities. Program Assistants will bond with youth through play and participation in group activities. They will support youth to try each activity, provide transportation to activities, and encourage positive peer relationships. This program is primarily outdoors in the summer and from September to June it is both indoors and outdoors.

CURRENT JOB REQUIREMENT:  Part-time. Currently looking to fill Tuesday nights and Pro D Days, other hours may be possible as well.
Wage Range $20.04 to $24.15 per hour

Qualifications that are an asset:

  • Experience working with children and youth with support needs is considered an asset

Our Behaviour Analyst trains you to become a Behaviour Interventionist to provide individual support to children in our Nest Positive Behaviour Program.

CURRENT JOB REQUIREMENT: On Call with the possibility of permanent part-time or full-time position; Flexible working a variety of daytime hours Monday to Friday.  To cover current BI’s on their sick and vacation days.  Our programs do run on Pro-D days and during Spring and Summer break.  Hourly Wage Range $20.04 to $24.15 per hour
