Give the gift of confidence this school year!
Donate to the Build a Backpack campaign at the Back to School Neighbourhood Party and make sure every kid walks in feeling ready, supported, and seen.
This year, Piccadilly Mall celebrated its 30th Anniversary by partnering with the Shuswap Children’s Association and the SAFE Society on Saturday, August 16 for a fun-filled Back to School Neighbourhood Party. This community event brought us together to collect donations for the Build a Backpack campaign, providing essential school supplies to kids in need across SD#83.
Back to School Essentials Needed:
- HB pencils
- Blue & red pens
- Pencil crayons (24 colour pack)
- Fine-tip permanent markers
- Highlighters (3–5 assorted colours)
- Binder with dividers (minimum 2–3 ”)
- Graph paper packet (¼″ grid)
- 1–2 Hilroy exercise books (math, journal)
- Duotangs (5–8 for assignments)
- Agenda/planner
- 30 cm clear ruler
- Good-quality scissors (pointed tip)
- Large glue sticks (2–3)
- Pencil case to hold small items
- Portable pencil sharpener with shavings container
- Refillable water bottle
- Scientific calculator
- Soft-sided lunch box
- Child backpack
- Teen backpack
Every item you donate can ease a child’s worry and help them feel prepared and included. Whether it’s a few pencils or a full backpack, your contribution reminds a child that they matter and that their community cares.
Backpacks will be thoughtfully distributed by the SAFE Society and Shuswap Children’s Association to families who could use a little extra help this school year.
Together, we can send every child back to school feeling confident, included, and ready to shine.
- A $70 donation fills a backpack for a child in Grades K–6
- A $90 donation fills a backpack for a teen in Grades 7–12
Monetary donations (cash, cheque, or credit card) can be made to the Shuswap Children’s Association and are eligible for a tax receipt. Your support helps us purchase backpacks and top up any supplies we may be short on.
