FASD Key Worker

What is an FASD Key Worker?

Key Workers help families to understand Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), by providing education and information specific to the needs of the child or youth and the family.

We are familiar with community resources, help families get support, give health and education information, and help in the development of local support services.

Specific Key Worker Roles  

  • Give practical and emotional support  
  • Advocate for family and child
  • Help with formal diagnostic process

Children who qualify for an FASD Key Worker are 0-19 years and are:

  • Diagnosed with FASD or Complex Behavior Disorder
  • Waiting for diagnosis for suspected FASD or Complex Behavior Disorder

How will the FASD Key Worker work with us? The Key Worker may help you in a variety of ways:

  • Meet you at your home or at our office
  • Go through the assessment process and help with where to start
  • Suggest new methods for working with your child/youth
  • Lend you books, DVDs, and other material about FASD
  • Tell you about other services and resources
  • Connect you to other parents, and parent support groups

Date:  1st Wednesday of every month

Time:  6:30 to 8:30 pm

Where:  Shuswap Children’s, 240 Shuswap Street NE

Closed:  July, August and September
